AFTER FIVE GOLDEN YEARS
Let’s roll the dice, shall we? Well, I would have rolled it, but the dice is off somewhere else, running an errand. So, I’ll take it my way. Let’s dive into what happened after five golden years.
The date was 20th August 2019. We were celebrating our fifth Raising Day (that means the day our school was established — in other words, our school’s birthday). The entire event was organized by us, the cadets, with only a little assistance from our teachers. This blog is about the series of incidents that unfolded just a day after the five golden years of our school — a day that could very well be labeled a black day in the history of Sainik School Kalikiri for us.
A little about our Raising Day celebrations — Abhilash and I were in charge of poem composition and recitation, capturing our school’s five-year journey. We prepared the presentation at the very last minute and handed it in just before the event began that evening. We gave it our all and performed excellently. The event went smoothly, and while our friends appreciated our performance, we felt we didn’t receive the credit we deserved from the teachers, the Admin Officer, or the Vice Principal.
Then came the black day. Like every other working day in school, the assembly was held after breakfast and before classes began. The teachers and the Vice Principal were present, so we naturally assumed that a few words of appreciation for our performance were about to come. Abhilash and I waited eagerly. But what followed was something none of us could have imagined.
We were completely unprepared for what was about to happen. Suddenly, we were told to stand in the assembly quadrangle until further instructions. Before we could even understand what was going on, our Vice Principal launched what could only be called a covert mission — to find every single smuggled phone secretly being used in our dorms. The teachers divided themselves to cover all four dormitories and began searching every corner efficiently. It looked like a full-blown I.T. raid was taking place!
The hunt had begun — and much more happened that day, things that can’t possibly be contained in a single blog. You know the routine by now — let’s meet in the next part for more.
Till then, watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S if you haven’t; and if you already have, rewatch it — no harm in that, it’s an awesome sitcom. Take care. Adios.
